Cactus Graphics, Dover, Kent
Cactus Graphics is a modern print business based in Dover, Kent, with roots tracing back nearly 200 years. It was founded in July 2021 as a direct successor to Buckland Media Group, a family business originating in the mid-19th century. The company is led by Managing Director Katie Weaver, who comes from a family line connected to Buckland, and Commercial Director Richard Archer.
They are known for its forward-thinking approach, focusing on innovation, youth recruitment, and strong ties with local universities and colleges. They regularly work with design students to explore creative possibilities in print. Despite its long heritage, the company embraces a fresh, modern identity and aims to disrupt the market with cutting-edge print technologies.
The Cactus team was looking for a press to replace an existing machine that was out of contract. Specifically, they wanted a solution that would not only meet their operational needs but also set them apart in the market and offer advanced capabilities beyond a standard 4-colour press.
To achieve this, their needs included the following:
Special Colour Capabilities: First and foremost, they sought a press with enhanced colour matching and the ability to use special colours such as white, metallics, and pink. This was essential to expand their creative offerings and deliver standout results.
High Quality and Efficiency: Additionally, the press needed to deliver excellent print quality, operate at high speeds, and maintain low power consumption—ensuring both performance and sustainability.
Compact Design: Moreover, a machine with a small footprint was preferred to make the most of their available space without compromising on functionality.
Long Sheet Capability: Just as importantly, they required long sheet capability as a standard feature, without incurring additional costs, which was a limitation of several alternative options.
Market Expansion: Lastly, they were looking for a press that could support their ambition to move into B2C markets while continuing to serve B2B clients effectively, enabling them to grow and diversify their customer base.
Cactus Graphics invested in the Fujifilm Revoria PC1120 6-colour press, which was installed in March 2025. They choose this press because it offered the best overall package to meet their needs and goals.
Several key reasons influenced their decision:
Special Colour Capabilities: Firstly, the press provides exceptional colour matching, which is especially beneficial for branding and logos. In addition, it supports special colours like white, metallics, and pink. This feature opens up new creative possibilities and potential B2C market opportunities.
High Quality and Efficiency: Furthermore, the machine delivers excellent print quality, operates at impressive speeds, and boasts remarkably low power consumption.
Compact Design: Another advantage is its small footprint, making it highly space-efficient—an important consideration for their workspace.
Long Sheet Capability: Notably, this feature comes as standard with the Revoria PC1120, unlike alternative options that would have required additional costs for the same capability.
Market Differentiation: Importantly, investing in a 6-colour press allowed Cactus Graphics to disrupt the market and distinguish themselves from competitors, rather than simply replacing their previous 4-colour press with a similar model.
Thoughtful Design: Finally, the Revoria PC1120 stood out for its intentional design focused on special colour functionality. In contrast, other presses seemed to treat additional colour stations as an afterthought.
Overall, the Fujifilm Revoria PC1120 aligned perfectly with their vision of innovation and market disruption.
“The colour matching ability is phenomenal, benefiting design agency clients and enhancing our own marketing materials. With combinations like white, metallics, and pink, we’re opening doors to B2C work, expanding beyond our traditional B2B focus.”
“The Cactus team were a pleasure to work with throughout the process. Visiting the Fujifilm Luton showroom gave them a chance to see the Revoria Press PC1120S in action, and their confidence and decisiveness in choosing the right solution were impressive. We’re proud to have supported them in making such a forward-thinking investment”
